This month, we’re highlighting a unique Denver gem that’s redefining what it means to be a community resource - the Denver Tool Library.
Meet Garrett Carr
Full Name: Garrett Carr
Title: Assistant Director
Business: Denver Tool Library
For the past 10 years, Garrett and his team have been building something truly special in the heart of Denver: a place where tools, education, and community come together.

What the Denver Tool Library Offers
Denver Tool Library runs three main programs that make home projects, creative pursuits, and skill-building accessible to everyone:
🔧 Tool Lending Library - With an annual membership, members can check out as many tools as they like, just like checking out books at a library.
📚 Classes - From woodworking and welding to metalwork, art, and home renovation, classes are open to anyone for a small fee (no membership required).
🪚 Open Workshop Hours - Members and non-members alike can access fully equipped woodworking spaces by the hour, perfect for projects that need room and resources.
Why Denver Tool Library Matters
Denver Tool Library isn’t just about tools—it’s about sustainability, education, and community. As a non-profit organization, their mission is to make tools and knowledge affordable, accessible, and shareable. By encouraging resource sharing, they’re helping homeowners, hobbyists, and makers reduce waste, save money, and build skills that last a lifetime.
Garrett says his favorite part of the job is getting to live out a passion he’s held for years: “I’ve been into tools and resource sharing for a long time, and now I get to do it with a company that not only works but also supports its staff and serves a lot of people. It shows that this model of resource sharing can work really well for everyone.”
What Makes Them Stand Out
While other cities have tool libraries, Denver didn’t have one - until Garrett and his co-founders made it happen. Today, Denver Tool Library is the only one of its kind in the city, and it continues to grow as more people discover the benefits of shared resources.
I have had a few clients that have utilized the Denver Tool Library and they only have a great things to say!
