2. House Hacker:
Alison and I met through a mutual friend at a group dinner. We sat across from one another and couldn't help but become friends with our mutually sarcastic nature. That friendship blossomed into Alison becoming a great client. She purchased her first home with us in February of 2018 - a cute brick ranch in Westminster.
Alison then went on to turn this 3-bed, 1-bath single-family residence into an ultra creative house hack. She rented out her other bedrooms with a variety of short-term and long-term tenants. She used these additional funds to help convert her attached 1 car-garage into a 1-bed, 1-bath apartment. She then started using Air Bnb on just the garage conversion and kept the rest of her house to herself. On a monthly basis, Alison pays just $300-500 to live in her home. Meanwhile, her mortgage is getting paid down on a monthly basis by other people and her home continues to appreciate. She's building equity at both ends! Alison is seeing the financial gain of this arrangement so clearly that she intends to purchase an additional 4 to 5 bedroom home.
