One of my favorite things about highlighting local businesses is getting to share the stories behind the people who make our communities stronger. And when it comes to wellness, growth, and genuine passion for helping others, Cassandra Severns is someone who immediately comes to mind.
I first connected with Cassandra through the wellness community, and over the last 2 years I've had the opportunity to learn from her firsthand. She actually certified me in sound healing, and it's also been incredible watching her pour her knowledge, energy, and heart into helping people transform their lives through yoga.
Today, Cassandra is the proud owner of YogaSix Edgewater, a woman-owned yoga studio that's creating a welcoming space for people of all experience levels to improve their physical health, reduce stress, and reconnect with themselves.
But what makes her story so inspiring is how it all began.

From Personal Health Challenge to Business Owner
Thirteen years ago, despite living an active lifestyle, Cassandra found herself facing a serious health challenge.
At the time, she was working a desk job at an acupuncture clinic and had access to acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbal medicine, both of which helped her recovery. Around that same time, a friend encouraged her to try yoga.
That recommendation changed everything.
As she incorporated yoga into her wellness routine, she experienced dramatic improvements in both her physical and mental well-being. What started as a tool for healing quickly became a passion and eventually a career.
Fast forward thirteen years, and an incredible opportunity came her way.
In January 2026, Cassandra's former boss offered her the chance to acquire YogaSix Edgewater. After years of teaching, learning, and helping students grow through yoga, she knew this was an opportunity she couldn't pass up.
Today, she's carrying that mission forward as the owner of the studio, helping others discover the same benefits that first transformed her own life.

A Studio Designed for Every Stage of Your Journey
One thing I love about YogaSix Edgewater is that it's incredibly approachable. Whether you're completely new to yoga or have been practicing for years, there's a class designed to meet you where you are.
The studio offers six unique class formats:
Signature YogaSix Flow
Slow Flow
Power Yoga
Sculpt & Flow
Mobility-focused classes
Yin Yoga
In addition to their regular schedule, they also host beginner-friendly classes, workshops, and specialty events that allow students to dive deeper into topics like chakras, mindfulness, and advanced yoga practices.
For those looking for flexibility, members can choose from drop-in classes, class packs, or membership options depending on what works best for their schedule and goals.

More Than a Workout - A Full Sensory Experience
There are plenty of places to take a fitness class. What makes YogaSix Edgewater stand out is the intentional experience Cassandra has created. She describes it as a sensory experience, and once you step inside, it's easy to understand why.
From the visual atmosphere and music to the overall energy of the studio, every detail is designed to help students feel present, comfortable, and supported. It's not just about exercise. It's about creating an environment where people can unplug from the demands of daily life and focus on their own well-being.

What Cassandra Loves Most
When I asked Cassandra what her favorite part of owning the studio is, her answer was simple. Watching people grow. Whether it's seeing someone gain confidence, improve mobility, manage stress more effectively, or simply prioritize themselves for an hour each week, those transformations never get old. And honestly, that's what makes her such a great fit for this work. She's energetic, passionate, and what she jokingly calls a "fixer." Whether she's helping a student overcome a challenge or bringing a struggling houseplant back to life, she genuinely enjoys helping things thrive.

Creating Space for Growth
As a homeowner herself, Cassandra understands the importance of creating a space that feels like your own sanctuary. She shared that transitioning from renting to owning gave her the freedom to create an environment that truly reflected her lifestyle and priorities. In many ways, that's exactly what she's created at YogaSix Edgewater. A space where people can show up exactly as they are, invest in themselves, and grow stronger - physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Looking for a New Way to Prioritize Your Well-Being?
If you've been curious about yoga but haven't known where to start, consider this your invitation. Whether you're looking for strength, flexibility, stress relief, mindfulness, or simply a supportive community, YogaSix Edgewater offers a welcoming environment designed to help you succeed. Because sometimes the most meaningful transformations begin with a single class. And sometimes, they change your entire life.
